Abortion is Healthcare: Fighting against misinformation

A major battle for Alliance for Choice is the one against anti-abortion fake clinics, who seize on the lack of information on abortion access to deceive people into going to them instead of legitimate abortion clinics.

Without information on the real clinics, anti-abortion fake clinics proliferate with their main goal of preventing people from having the abortions they want. They have been known to take people’s personal details and use them against them.

These clinics often try to call themselves “crisis pregnancy centres”, “pregnancy resource centres”, or “pregnancy medical clinics,” all hiding what they really do. These names only work to obscure their true intentions and allow them to continue advertising their bogus services to people searching for abortion care. This happens on the web, or even when trying to enter an actual abortion clinic – fake clinics and their ‘street counsellors’ will sometimes set up to seem like an abortion clinic. They even advertise the medically dangerous abortion reversal method.

That isn’t care; it’s deception. And it’s getting worse.
